Goed, in Nederland dus.

Mar had behoorlijke schouderpijn.

Misschien beide?
We zullen zien.

A blog from the Netherlands.

We had booked this trip in November 2018, long before we knew that we would live on a land. The reason for the booking was the 89th birthday of Eric's mother, Ans.
He finds it important to see his mother more regularly in ‘real life’ because she is becoming more forgetful at a fast pace. Whatsapp conversations have always worked less with her and he would also like to help her in the house occasionally. Every now and then he flies back and forth for a few days, but for this trip, we would all go.
The cheapest option for this trip was a return flight of 2 weeks. Two weeks in the Netherlands, after being away for 1.5 years.
In 2010 we returned to the Netherlands from NZ for the first time in 5 years. After 6 weeks we left again for - this time - Australia. It was then a very big event to come back. This time it felt less grand.
Sometimes I am shocked to see what we have already done in our lives. I recently wrote a chronological order of major events in his life, for Lem (for his possible application letter for Antarctica). That brought it to my attention again. What a lot of changes we have undergone!
It is funny - in an ironic way - that we are finally doing what we have wanted to do all along, but which somehow never worked out. The right moment has apparently arrived for us to "just do it" instead of restraining ourselves through our fear and our thinking. How often we ended up in a sort of ‘waiting-time’ with great regularity, because we had let ourselves be fixed in place by our mind, which was waiting for certainty and safety to happen first, before ever daring to  jump’.
There is no "recipe" for reaching such a point. It is really just "jumping" at the right time. Nobody knows for someone else when this is, what it is and how it is. But what I do know is that courage is the entry point. Always. Courage is the entrance to every growth and to every positive change in life.
And sometimes it takes a huge amount of courage, bordering on idiocy. Such as trying to buy from a country without money. And like trying to build something on it, without your own income.

Anyway; back to the Netherlands.
“Yesterday at 3 o'clock in the morning, getting ready in the drizzling rain and leaving everything behind in a tidy way; in plastic containers (due to rats and mice) and recent waste we threw away in a sleeping village.
Driving through the night, sitting like sardines in a can in the plane. Lots of turbulence over France and Bear who had to vomit because of the dirty, polluted air in the plane.
Arriving in the same weather type a few hours later. And yet it feels different.
Now in a HOUSE, with a SHOWER and great sleep. On vacation in the Netherlands.”
I posted on Facebook the morning after arrival.
Meanwhile, I slept a lot less well the night after.

We visited my mother yesterday, that was very nice. I noticed that an old pattern that I always fell into, no longer played. That old pattern was about feeling responsible for / compensating for / feeling guilty towards... The fact that this pattern did not emerge, was - according to me - a relief for both my mother and me. The strange thing was that it was only on my way back from the visit that I felt that this pattern had not been there.

I woke up this morning with an irritation I couldn't pinpoint. When I was meditating a little later, I felt that there is ‘so much’ in the Netherlands. There are so many people, so many influences, so many energies, so much pushing and pulling. I felt an inner resistance to this. I pushed back - unconsciously - and that caused irritation and a lot of energy loss.
In Spain we are -of course- just outside in nature, in a remote area. If we turn off the WiFi, for example, there IS no WiFi signal in the whole area. The origin of sounds there is "clear". It comes from an animal or a human or the weather. No inaudible sound waves that your brain actually catches and cannot place, as is largely present in the Netherlands (radio waves, WiFi, electromagnetic radiation). I recently read in an article that the Netherlands, as a country, contains the largest concentration of this type of radiation in the world.
Quite a big transition for my body and mind. And also for my emotions. Things also affected my mental and emotional body. As if I "must do" more in the Netherlands. Just as if I acutely connect to an invisible network, which is known to me on an unconscious level.
I am not sure how I can best deal with this. Acceptance seems the best way, but that is still difficult. Opposing myself against it is too tiring. Protecting myself feels too closed off.

Mar had considerable shoulder pain. When we asked her body some questions through kinesiology, she turned out to experience the Netherlands as a country where she had to perform on a social level. Because there are so many more people. Including many more people she knew, like family and acquaintances. In Spain, where another language was spoken, she experienced this less. So no matter how much she likes being here, her body experiences a considerable tension about this. She also immediately had a bladder infection, the night before departure, which is still not resolved.

In Spain, Beer indicated that he was sometimes bothered by sunlight after working outside for a long time. He felt tired of it and wanted sunglasses. Here in the Netherlands he is even more troubled by light. When I asked about this, he said that all the other impressions here were so imposing that sometimes the light just got too much.

And Lem, Lem is happy. After having spent 3 hours in the bath and scrubbing Spain off completely, his sun allergy eczema also cleared up completely (how psychologically influenced can you be!). He enjoys the Dutch food and the comfort of a house and a toilet in which all the excrement wash away invisibly.

We stay with Ans, Eric's mother. For Eric this is the house where he was born. It is difficult for him not to end up immediately in old, fixed patterns. Something he finds difficult to stay "out of" anyway. He is therefore bothered by the grid of the Netherlands, in which - just like me - he easily hooks up AND the grid of the parental home that is always lurking to fall back comfortably, never to get out of again.
One of his patterns causes him to eat too much. This morning, Lem commented that it was as if he was looking for something in the food that did not fulfil a need in him. Which seemed to lead to even more searching.

In other words; it is not simple and easy to be back in the Netherlands. Not that I expected it to be. And yet it is a surprise to experience WHAT exactly the difficult thing is.
I wondered why, on the larger plane of my life, this journey came exactly at a time when I finally started to feel connected to an area and so I wanted to continue connecting there.
For Renske, who was now alone in that area, I understood the 'why' very well. She needed to bond with the land specifically without us in it.
But for me?
Perhaps precisely so I can allow myself to trust that connection and not try to hold on to it? Or because I still have something to do in my relationship with the Netherlands? Maybe both?
We will see.
